Hi Chris,

Well, I think that I will continue to cast my lot with the apostle John who said 'It doth not yet appear what we shall be'. That I feel is the only safe course. If he didn't claim to understand fully the nature of the resurrection body then it would be pretty foolish for me to speculate.

What I see is that both sides fail to consider ALL the evidence. Both seem to drive the scriptures into a contradiction. I'm not even sure that the post resurrection appearances of Jesus are a safe guide as to what the resurrection body is like. As stated, John didn't seem to claim to know. When John saw Jesus in a vision on Patmos, Jesus certainly did not appear to him as he did while on earth, whether before or after the resurrection.

The bottom line is, I can't stand the dogmatism that would plot one set of scriptures against another and will not engage in a meaningful discussion in order to honestly face these difficulties.

The great irony is of course that not even the apostle John claimed certainty in the matter, but was content with knowing that someday we will bear the image of our Master, whatever form that may be. The problem is simply that this is not, and will never be good enough for some people.

Love you brother,
David
